An Incomparable Pair
This may be my favorite picture of Toby and Lily. Taken shortly after
Lil joined the family, it perfectly illustrates their early relationship.
Toby was instantly enamored of this pup who thought that if he was
not her mother, Toby was the next best thing.
Lest you conclude that the snapshot above was a lucky fluke and that
Toby and Lily were not really close, the three immediately following
prove otherwise.

Lil was considerably smaller than her brother in those days, but she
was no less self-assured.

|
|
Lily quickly made herself a part of Toby's pack at the old Milwaukee
dog park. Here are Toby (left), his fiancee, Nutmeg, and Lily taking
part in a canine discussion.

Here's the dog park in winter. Lil's at left in this one.

As long as we're visiting the old dog park, here are two more pictures
from there. The left shot above shows Lily (left), Toby, and Lil's
special friend Grace. At right, we see Lily, Toby's best friend, Rocky,
and Toby.
Lily grew quickly during her first months. Here she is with Toby and
Dale around Christmas of '94. She was six months old.

Three years later, they were more solidly bonded than ever.
This picture was taken at Christmas of '97.

Around the time Lily became full grown, she and Toby had moved to
their new Germantown home. Here they are sharing a good morning kiss
on the patio.

Another of my favorites, this photo emphasizes what a gorgeous
pair of Boxers Toby and Lily made.

Toby and Lily did nearly everything together.
|
|
|
Each thrived on the other's company.

Indoors and out...
|
|
|
...Toby and Lily were inseparable...
|
...even when one of the siblings had fallen asleep.
Just one thing could separate them. None of us knew we were saying
goodbye, but this picture was taken just three days before
lymphosarcoma claimed Tiger Lily's life.
